The Confederation of Sudanese Civil Society Organizations calls on the international community to respond with unambiguous action towards the government of Sudan, indicating they must cease their indiscriminate violence towards peaceful demonstrations. A week of deadly violence has engulfed Sudan over the last week, including Khartoum, where hundreds of protestors have been killed by government security forces. Many more were injured and thousands detained. The protestors were largely denounced by the Sudanese government as criminals and thugs, and evidence of excessive use of force, including live ammunition, tear gas, and orders to shoot to kill, were common in all the encounters with police and security forces.
