The proposed project consists of launching a specialized FM radio station that targets listeners in the greater Khartoum area, as well as through partnerships with other radio stations across Sudan, and focuses exclusively on issues of peace, democracy and enlightenment. The radio station will be the first of its kind in Sudan, delving into topics such as Sudanese identity, conflicting histories, multiculturalism, peace and civil war, religion and the state, democracy, educational and cultural reform, human rights and gender. In addition to broadcasting informational shows and educational entertainment, the radio shows will also be receiving calls from listeners who will be encouraged to engage with the topics discussed. This feature is unique in the way that listeners will not be given advice or moral direction, but rather will be encouraged to reflect for themselves and voice their own experiences and opinions. This builds democratic education within Sudan, while also connecting millions of fellow Sudanese with one another in a meaningful way. This radio will facilitate a real national debate on vital issues of nation-building.
